It has been a long time since I did a mandala but was recently inspired to do this one.

It has been a long time since I did a mandala but was recently inspired to do this one.

I have not been here for two months-no mandalas, no One Single Impression haiku, nothing.
A few people have been wondering what happened. I can only say that I lost my muse for awhile.
At last she is back
My muse, my inspiration
Let’s start creating
I am dedicating these mandalas to my dear friend Marianne who recently lost her father. She creates beautiful mandalas.
The theme word at One Single Impression this week is “slowly” suggested by Genre Cookshop.
Take a breath slowly
Smell the fragrance in the air
Spring flowers have come
The top mandala is full of flowers, while the second mandala is a color inversion of the same image. I did this in Paint on Vista.
Visit One Single Impression for links to beautiful haiku from some very talented people!
And thanks for stopping by.

It seems I always do my mandalas in color so I wondered how it would look all in black. Gosh, it was hard not to add color somewhere

This is such a different mandala for me; no color and all lines. I was looking at the designs on Zentangles and discovered this particular design called a ‘paradox’. I wondered how it would look in a mandala. So I did it and was surprised at the results.
I love how it all twists together so wonderfully.

I was reading Sues’s Sacred Circles where she led her readers to this site of spectacular patterns. There are some gorgeous patterns there. Shortly afterward I saw a lady with a black and white patterned blouse and realized just how much I love patterns and designs.
Thus, this mandala design was born. I started out knowing I wanted to do something in black and white and when I made the first line I knew exactly where I was going. Take a close look to see the alternating double patterns of black and white daisies.

I decided to try Sharpie pens for color this time and I like them. I named it ‘holiday mandala because when I was done, it just reminded me of summer holiday colors and shapes.

I finished reading the first chapter of ‘Doodling and Noodling’ in “Keys to Drawing With Imagination”. Tangles make a great mandala!
