‘Slowly’ Mandala

Filed under: Botanical, One Single Impression, Sharpies, ink, mandala — teric @ 8:52 pm

I have not been here for two months-no mandalas, no One Single Impression haiku, nothing.
A few people have been wondering what happened.  I can only say that I lost my muse for awhile.

At last she is back
My muse, my inspiration
Let’s start creating

I am dedicating these mandalas to my dear friend Marianne who recently lost her father.   She creates beautiful mandalas.

The theme word at One Single Impression this week is “slowly” suggested by Genre Cookshop.

Take a breath slowly
Smell the fragrance in the air
Spring flowers have come

The top mandala is full of flowers, while the second mandala is a color inversion of the same image.  I did this in Paint on Vista.

Visit One Single Impression for links to beautiful haiku from some very talented people!

And thanks for stopping by.

Paradox Mandala

Filed under: One Single Impression, colored pencils, mandala — teric @ 10:32 pm

The theme word at One Single Impression this week is ‘paradox’ suggested by Forest River Journal.

Paradox is an interesting word with a slippery meaning :)

Here is my haiku:

A paradox for me
Mandala without color
Just brown, white and black

I found some brown paper and while fooling around with it, this mandala appeared and it seemed so perfect for paradox.  Then the haiku appeared just as mysteriously.

Serendipity Mandala

Filed under: One Single Impression, Sharpies, mandala — teric @ 8:28 pm

The prompt at One Single Impression this week is ’serendipity’ suggested by ‘Barb’s haiku’.

I love the word ’serendipity’, both the sound and the connotation.  I had a few haiku that came to mind:

I let my pen play
Black, until it found color
Serendipity!

Serendipity!
Looking for the stars
And finding the sun

Serendipity!
Mental images abound
Of great surprises

And my favorite:

Serendipity
Discovering your best friend
While looking for love

Ever the romantic! :)

Autumn Mandala

Filed under: Botanical, One Single Impression, Sharpies, mandala — teric @ 9:12 am

The prompt at One Single Impression this week is ‘Autumn’ suggested my moi:)  I LOVE doing autumn leaves and have written so many haiku and painted leaves all week on my art blog.

This mandala is doing double duty today as ‘autumn’ is also the prompt at Mandala Oasis.

The cycle of change
During the life of a leaf
The joys of autumn

Started as a green
Progressed to red and yellow
Ends brown and broken

I have had a week
Of colorful autumn leaves
At Painted Daisies

I love painting autumn leaves and went crazy painting them and writing a haiku for each.
I am leaving for Arizona tomorrow so it will be a few days before I can visit your Blogs.

Three days to go south
And west to Arizona
With warm sunny skies

Seeds Mandala

Filed under: One Single Impression, Sharpies, mandala — teric @ 7:48 am

The prompt at One Single Impression this week is ’seeds’ suggested by moi :)

I went completely out of the box with this interpretation.

Bright seeds of color
Red, green, blue, yellow and pink
Their beauty unleashed

Did I mention that I LOVE bright colors?

Spectacle Mandala

Filed under: One Single Impression, colored pencils, mandala — teric @ 6:31 am

I had a lot of fun doing this one.   I love how the black paper makes everything pop.

The prompt at One Single Impression this week is ’spectacle’.

The star spectacle
Sparkling, shooting and hunting
Share the night with them

This was fun to write and to make a mandala for.

Homecoming Mandala

Filed under: One Single Impression, gelpens, mandala — teric @ 6:12 pm

The prompt at One Single Impression this week is ‘Spectacle’.

In keeping with the Summer Olympics I worte this haiku:

Olympics this week
A world-watched spectacle
Only the best win

I am editing this to reflect the change from spectacle to homecoming that I didn’t know about.  So I changed the title and wrote another haiku, still thinking about the Olympics.

The men, the women
Making the homecoming count
With Olympic gold

Hard to tell that I have been glued to the TV watching the games.

Folly Mandala

Filed under: One Single Impression, acrylics, mandala — teric @ 5:35 am

The prompt at One Single Impression this week is ‘Folly’ suggested by Forest River Journal.

I had fun with alliteration on this one:

F is for folly,
Fun, friends, five fragrant flowers.
And feeling foolish.

Right after that I had to go shopping at the art store and found some fun acrylic paints and black paper sketchbook and made this mandala.  Then this haiku popped into my head:

I bought new colors
To use on new black paper
Not folly for sure

Thanks to OSI I am always inspired!

Faces Mandala

Filed under: One Single Impression, mandala, watercolor — teric @ 6:24 am

The prompt at One Single Impression this week is ‘faces’ and I knew I would have fun with it the minute I saw it.   First I wrote the haiku as doing it that way seems to direct me.

Eyes, ears, nose and mouth
They are all so different
Yet so much the same

Then I did the mandala.
