Butterfly Mandala

July 7, 2007

I always do my mandalas with gelpens, but thought it might be interesting to try it with watercolor.   I did not know that gelpens are water-soluble, thus the wet-looking butterflies and flowers.  Kind of fun.   Reminds me of putting it under glass to get a slight distortion.

Looks like silk painting. I like the wet look. Thanks for all the great comments on my blog. You keep me inspired!

I am fascinated by three things- butterflies, mandalas and tattoos- I am trying to combine the three- I envision a butterfly with those longer wings and its wings filled with mandala designs- I do not know how to paint or draw- any ideas?
